Charlotte Sanddal didn’t discover her competitive edge until she jumped in the pool in 1994 at age 72. After Helena's Charlotte Sanddal retired from her job as a social worker evaluating nursing homes for the state of Montana, her friend Flora Wong suggested she start competitive swimming. The party culminated with a brief ceremony at Anchor Park by the public library. Sanddal went on the capture dozens of age-group world records, and even more world championships. Her senior competitions have taken her around the globe, competing in places like Calgary, Edmonton and Montreal, Canada; Torina, Italy; Christ Church and Aukland, New Zealand; and Sidney, Australia.
